(What happens during the school term)
We run a four year training programme covering drill, uniform, aviation, navigation, firearms safety and marksmanship, service knowledge, radio, cadet force knowledge, weather, first aid, risk management, leadership and instructional technique. We learn the theory on parade nights and then put it into practice at weekends.
The sky's the limit - literally! But apart from regular opportunities to experience powered flying and gliding, you can go shooting and try for your marksman's badge, or head into the bush and put your fieldcraft training into practice. Parading on ANZAC day is a must, but we also provide a uniformed presence at civic occasions, such as citizenship ceremonies and defence events.

(What you can do during the school holidays)
Cadets doesn't close down during the School Holidays. Although we don't parade, there's plenty going on.
We might visit an NZDF Base, such as RNZAF Ohakea.
During Queens Birthday weekend we will send a team to compete in Exercise Sparrowhawk, the central area ATC drill and skills competition.
This is also the time when the NZCF nationally run tri-corps promotion courses where cadets spend a week on a defence base qualifying to be an junior non-commissioned officer (NCO) and later, a senior NCO.
For Air Cadets, there are also opportunities to attend week long gliding, power flying or air navigation camps or the three week International Air Cadet Exchange scheme (IACE).
